About
Marimba music brings melody and rhythm together through wooden keys played with mallets. Its roots connect African musical traditions with music across the Americas, where communities have developed their own distinctive styles.
At Africentric Arts, marimba is part of our commitment to sharing African heritage through music, cultural learning and performance.
Scheduled Workshops & Training
Discover marimba music through introductory workshops and training sessions. Whether you’re trying an instrument for the first time or interested in developing your skills, our sessions offer a welcoming opportunity to learn and play with others.
Classes include demonstrations, guided practice and group music-making. Participants learn how to use the mallets, play rhythmic and melodic patterns, and listen to one another as their parts come together.
We welcome youth, adults and families from all backgrounds. Check each listing for the recommended ages and experience level.
No musical experience needed for introductory workshops. Instruments provided.
